Degree outline

The degree is three years full-time, part-time equivalent (up to a maximum of 10 years) and is delivered fully online, affording students flexibility and convenience to study anywhere in the world.

Through this degree you will learn about some of the most important issues facing the sport industry today, providing you with industry-focused skills and knowledge.

Students will graduate with a Bachelor of International Sport Management from Federation University.

Entry requirement

Domestic students (Australia and New  Zealand)

Applicants will have completed the equivalent of Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) Year 12 with an English mark of 25 or higher and will have completed at least year 11 Mathematics or equivalent.

International students

Applicants must demonstrate equivalence to the entry requirements for domestic students. For a bachelor degree, AQF level 7, an IELTS (or equivalent) score of 6.0 or greater will be required with no band less than 6.0.

Recognition of prior learning

If what you have learned at work, from other courses, from life experience or training provided at work is relevant to this course, you may be entitled to gain subject credits or exemptions. Industry experience

You will be provided with the opportunity to participate in multiple industry internship experiences throughout your studies. In the second year of the degree you will complete the Sport Management Industry Preparation course, which includes a minimum of 150 hours of placement experiences. You are expected to undertake two different sports management experiences.

Students in their third and final year will have further options for industry internship experiences: 20% of the highest achievers will be offered to undertake a 60 credit point internship course which requires 560 hours of industry placement. Alternatively, students can elect the 30 credit point internship course which requires 280 working hours of placement and an additional two 15 credit point elective units.

Prior to enrolment in work industry placement courses (ISM2005, ISMAN3009 and ISMAN3010) students require a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) or equivalent. Visit our WWCC page for more information on industry placement requirements.

Additional information

Online delivery

This online degree provides you with access to a virtual classroom that includes interactive lessons. This allows you the ability to receive assistance from lecturers and still have a sense of learning in a classroom environment with other students.

We use Moodle as our official learning management system. Through Moodle, you will be able to access and engage with learning materials and activities, submit assignments, receive feedback, and interact with lecturers and peers.

Learning hours

There is an expectation that you will engage with online learning content for at least 3 hours per week for each course. You are given the option to participate in a one-hour virtual online weekly class scheduled with their university lecturer. These sessions will provide you with the opportunity to discuss complex concepts and case studies. In addition, you will be required to complete additional hours for self-directed learning and completion of assessment tasks.

Exams

You will engage in a range of authentic assessment tasks based on academic integrity to demonstrate your successful achievement of each course’s learning outcomes. Assessment tasks may include writing explorative essays, responding to bespoke case studies, creating interactive video presentations, designing inspired infographics and invigilated interactive oral exams. These tasks will require you to establish academic and digital literacies that will be indicative of industry requirements. This will provide you with the opportunity to develop real-world skills and build a portfolio of exemplary work.

Online study

We understand the importance of a study community and collaborative learning.

When enrolled in the Bachelor of International Sport Management you will be encouraged to participate and collaborate with other students and lecturers on discussion forums, through virtual classrooms via Adobe Connect and Microsoft Teams for student group work.

To help you get the most from your online learning experience, it's important that you own or have frequent access to a fast and reliable computer or laptop that's ideally not more than two years old.

You will also need frequent access to a reliable high-speed internet connection. You should expect to use approximately 5GB of data each month, per course, for study use.
